After a transformative year-long pause to restructure operations and renovate its iconic space, Lookingglass Theatre Company is back! The Tony Award-winning ensemble, in partnership with The Actors Gymnasium, announces the world premiere of Circus Quixote. This highly anticipated production runs from January 30 to March 30 at the newly revitalized Joan and Paul Theatre, located in the historic Water Tower Water Works on Michigan Avenue.
Adapted and directed by ensemble members Kerry and David Catlin, with circus choreography by Sylvia Hernandez-DiStasi, Circus Quixote reimagines Miguel de Cervantes' timeless tale of a dreamer and his squire.
Featuring breathtaking acrobatics and whimsical storytelling, the show brings Don Quixote’s quest to rekindle chivalry vividly to life. “We are thrilled to reopen Lookingglass with this inspiring and hilarious story of a mad knight and his loyal squire,” said David Catlin. “It’s a joyful celebration of resilience and imagination.”
The cast includes Michel Rodríguez Cintra as Don Quixote, Eduardo Martinez as Cervantes/Sancho and Laura Murillo Hart as Dulcinea, supported by a talented ensemble including Micah Figueroa, Julian Hester, Andrea San Miguel and Ayana Strutz. Previews begin January 30, with opening night set for February 8. Tickets range from $30 to $80 and are available now at LookingglassTheatre.org.
Alongside the production, Lookingglass will unveil its redesigned lobby, bar, and café, enhancing the theatergoing experience. The menu and programming for the new space will be announced soon.
