Chinese smartphone maker Oppo has unveiled its groundbreaking Find N5 foldable phone with a starting price of 2,499 Singapore dollars ($1,867.70), according to CNBC's recent coverage. The Find N5 features a 6.62-inch display when folded and expands to an 8.12-inch tablet when unfolded, setting new standards in the foldable phone market.

Breaking new ground in design, this device measures just 8.93 millimeters thick when closed and an impressive 4.21 millimeters when opened, making it slimmer than Samsung's Galaxy Fold 6, says CNBC. The phone incorporates a thin 5,600 milliampere-hour battery using silicon-carbon material, demonstrating Oppo's commitment to innovative battery technology while maintaining a slim profile.

The Verge's in-depth review suggests that the Find N5 represents the pinnacle of foldable phone evolution, noting that further significant hardware improvements seem unlikely without major compromises. Their hands-on testing reveals that the device weighs only slightly more than an iPhone 16 Pro Max while offering iPad Mini-sized screen real estate in a thinner package.

The device's display crease, a common concern in foldable phones, has been notably reduced and is barely noticeable except under specific lighting conditions, reports The Verge. The review also highlights impressive battery performance, with the device maintaining 50 percent charge after a full day of heavy use, including photography and travel planning on the large internal screen.

According to Oppo's official specifications, the Find N5 boasts several cutting-edge features that enhance its durability and performance. Oppo's technical documentation explains how the device incorporates a Titanium Alloy Flexion Hinge with a 3D-printed casing and wing plate, resulting in a 26% reduction in thickness while maintaining structural integrity.

The official product information emphasizes that the phone's frame is crafted from aircraft-grade 7-series Aluminum Alloy, offering superior strength and corrosion resistance. Oppo's documentation further reveals that the device features comprehensive water resistance with IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 ratings, ensuring protection against various water exposure scenarios while maintaining its slim profile.
