Apple has announced the iPhone 16e, a new addition to the iPhone 16 lineup that offers powerful capabilities at a more affordable price, according to Apple Inc.'s press release, which provides official specifications.

Apple's announcement details that the iPhone 16e will be available in two matte finishes, black and white, with pre-orders beginning Feb 21.
The phone includes a 48MP Fusion camera with an integrated 2x Telephoto lens, essentially providing two cameras in one and allowing users to zoom with optical quality.

The new iPhone 16e is priced at $599, aiming to revive growth after Apple experienced a sluggish holiday season, as reported by Bloomberg which provides additional market context for this product launch. This rebranded device represents a significant price increase over the $429 iPhone SE that it replaces.
The phone includes Apple's first in-house cellular modem chip called C1, replacing a key component previously supplied by Qualcomm.
According to the detailed report from Bloomberg, the iPhone 16e comes in options with 128, 256, and 512 gigabytes of storage, with the 256GB version priced at $699 and the top-end model costing $899, making it nearly the same price as an entry-level iPhone 16 Pro.
The iPhone 16e features a new Action button that provides users with fast access to various functions with just a press, as Newsweek reports that focuses on the user experience features of the new device.
Once customized in Settings, the button can be used to open the camera, switch between Ring and Silent modes, recognize music with Shazam, or activate Voice Memos, Focus, Translate, and accessibility features like Magnifier.
The phone is designed for Apple Intelligence, offering powerful features to make everyday tasks easier and more creative.
According to Newsweek's detailed analysis, users can remove distractions from images with the Clean Up tool and search photos simply by describing them using natural language.
The new Image Playground allows for creative expression through themes, costumes, and accessories, while Genmoji lets users create personalized emojis.
