Chicago’s historic six corners shopping district is undergoing a transformation with the opening of a new Luxury Apartment complex at the site of the former Sears department store.

Dubbed the “6 Corners Lofts” according to Block Club Chicago, the apartments are part of a year-long redevelopment plan and a broader initiative to revitalize the Portage Park neighborhood.

Applications are open now for February 1st leases, with rental prices ranging from $1,424 - $3,710 per month. The complex includes six affordable apartments starting at about $1100 per month.

The complex is a shining example of historic architectural reuse, repurposing the same building which housed Sears for nearly 80 years until its 2018 closure. According to reports, the overhaul has maintained some of the building's original stylistic features including art deco flourishes.

A number of the apartments are lofts with high ceilings, lofted nooks, and full length windows. Other units boast balconies providing captivating views of the city. The building contains other luxury amenities including a fitness center, outdoor pool and deck, game room, speakeasy lounge, and coworking space.

The complex will also include retail space on its ground floors, with a Target planned as the anchor, according to Block Club.

Apartment seekers can schedule a tour of the 6 Corners Lofts online.
