A popular skincare brand, First Aid Beauty, has issued a nationwide recall of its Ultra Repair Cream after discovering a manufacturing mishap that led to unauthorized product distribution. The recall affects 2,756 of the 14-ounce jars of the Coconut Vanilla-scented moisturizer, which is widely sold at major retailers including Target, Sephora, and Ulta Beauty across Chicago. According to the FDA notice, the product was mistakenly released from a batch intended for quarantine, raising concerns about potential health risks.

Local residents should check their skincare products, because in Chicago alone, there are approximately seven Sephora stores and five Ulta Beauty locations that may have carried this recalled product. The FDA classified this as a Class II recall, indicating that while the probability of serious health consequences is remote, there's a potential for temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects, according to Health. First Aid Beauty discovered the distribution error on Nov. 20, 2024, when it realized the specific batch was not meant for market sale. The company has proactively reached out to impacted consumers, offering replacement products and instructions to discontinue use of the affected Ultra Repair Cream.

Online discussions reveal mixed reactions from consumers and skincare enthusiasts. Reddit users have been sharing their experiences and concerns about the recall, with some questioning the product's effectiveness and others seeking clear guidance on next steps. One cosmetologist in the thread noted that skincare products work differently for various skin types, emphasizing the importance of individual experiences.

Customers are advised to check their product's lot number, specifically looking for lot codes 24D44 (expiring April 10, 2026) and 24D45 (expiring April 11, 2026). The recommended course of action is to immediately stop using the product and contact First Aid Beauty's customer service for a potential refund or replacement.
