Lollapalooza recap (the shortened version)

Lollapalooza in 2022 | Photo by Angela Gagnon

They came, they went…and in between they talked, danced, ate, and drank——and listened, of course, to a whole lotta music.

Another Lollapalooza Chicago-style is in the books, and a good time was had by all (neighbors living in nearby condos and apartments might slightly disagree).  This was version number 19, as the 4-day festival debuted in Chicago in 2005.

In many ways, this year’s event was one of the biggest and best ever.

Some comments, highlights, lowlights and more?  Glad you asked.

Here is the “Cliff’s Notes” version:

  1. Thank you, Mother Nature, as the weather was pretty nice the whole time. A little warm, and a bit of rain—but for the most part all good!
  2. The food and drink were badly overpriced. No big news here as this has become a Lollapalooza tradition.
  3. Good job by all security, police, and other personnel in charge of preventing any “instances.”  Early indications are there were very few problems in this area.
  4. Haven’t got the total result in yet, but stolen cell phones surely were a problem yet again.  Wall-to-wall crowds, underage drinking, unsuspecting young adults, and attention to the music are a prime combination for those thieves who choose to pickpocket.
  5. The crowds were huge as always…100,000+ each day.
  6. Apparently, tattoos are still in style. Hopefully not all of them are permanent!
  7. Also in style (in some cases anyway)—limited amounts of clothing.
  8. Thoughts and prayers go out to the clean-up crews working overtime—even as we speak (or read).
  9. Best band names? A lot of contenders here, but how about: Godly The Ruler, Tiny Habits, Sza Stray Kids, The Geese, Wolves of Glendale, Pierce The Veil, Destroy Boys, Slow Pulp Two Door Cinema Club, Post Sex Nachos, and Hippo Campus—just for starters.
  10. Chicago skyline, once again—an absolutely beautiful setting for the event, and the city shined brightly throughout the 4 days.

Final thought?  Did we mention thoughts and prayers (and thank you’s!) to all the clean-up crew staff.
