The Forge: Lemont Quarries is a 300-acre adventure park 22 miles from Chicago. It is the perfect place for families to get outside and enjoy National Family Fun Month in August.
This park is the ultimate family destination for incredible summer activities like climbing and ziplining. This season they have added new activities, which include archery golf, a kid's jump zone, axe throwing, and more. The park is rated #5 on the USA Today 10 Best Adventure Parks in the U.S. and was named Midwest Living's Best Adventure Park for 2023. (Heron Agency)
As North America's most extensive adventure course, The Forge boasts one of the largest and tallest ziplines in the United States. Guests can fly up to 27 mph at 1000 feet over the water-filled quarry while enjoying the spectacular view. This was my first zipline experience, and I felt like an action hero. It was one of the most thrilling moments of my life.
Before our climbing and ziplining adventure, the staff at the park went through an extensive safety class. The whole process eased any fears I had before arriving. I loved their professionalism throughout the entire training process.
The Forge has hundreds of unique elements, including challenging outdoor climbing courses, rappelling, and an intense free fall. All of this leads up to the final zipline experience.
"We've had a great summer season and we can't wait to continue to make the most of it," said Jeremie Bacon, CEO of The Forge: Lemont Quarries. "We pride ourselves on creating an outdoor environment where everyone, regardless of age, ability, and race can get outside and make some memories." (Heron Agency)
The Forge also offers family fun activities like The Forge Art Fest on August 26 and 27. The fest features painters, dance groups, live music, fine arts displays, classes, and workshops. Daily admission to the park is free, with day passes available for purchase to participate in the park activities. Booking in advance is recommended.
