The Tony Award-winning musical Annie opened this week for a limited engagement at Broadway in Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theater.
Through Sunday, March 19, attendees can enjoy the story of Annie, who lands in an orphanage with the nasty Miss Halligan. Annie wants to find her “real” parents but is adopted by the wealthy Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks.
Director Jenn Thompson says Annie promises “a better tomorrow not only for Annie herself, but for all who need her message now more than ever.” The story of Little Orphan Annie debuted in 1977 on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theater in New York City.
The role of Annie played by 12-year-old actress, Ellie Pulsifer. Hailing from South Florida, this tour marks her tour debut. Alongside Annie is her loveable mutt, Sandy. The pair cheers up members of the ensemble throughout the play.
The Chicago Tribune says Annie is “one of the best family musicals ever penned.” The show has been translated into 28 languages and boasts of the optimistic musical hit, Tomorrow.
Performances are Tuesday through Friday at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night’s show is at 8:00 p.m. Matinees are on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 p.m.
Tickets are available at the Cadillac Palace Theater box office, 151 W. Randolph St., or on their website. For groups of 10 or more, call Broadway in Chicago Group Sales at (312) 977-1710. For more information visit Broadway in Chicago’s website.
