On Tuesday, Apple announced the release of its redesigned 11-inch and new 13-inch iPad Air, both models featuring M2 chips for increased performance and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.

According to a statement from the California-based company, the new iPad Airs boasts unmatched performance, with Apple calling the latest models "an incredibly powerful device for artificial intelligence."

According to the statement, some of the new advanced features include a 50 percent speed increase compared to earlier models, faster Wi-Fi and 5g connectivity, all-day battery power, and compatibility with its Apple Pencil devices.

“We’re so excited to introduce the redesigned 11-inch and all-new 13-inch iPad Air, offering two sizes for the first time", said Apple’s vice president of Product Marketing, Bob Borchers. "With its combination of a brilliant Liquid Retina display, the phenomenal performance of the M2 chip, incredible AI capabilities, and its colorful, portable design with support for new accessories, iPad Air is more powerful and versatile than ever.”

The latest iPad Air designs reflect an industry-wide trend as Silicon Valley companies race to integrate AI capabilities into the latest tech models. Facing competition from some of the biggest names in the emerging AI sector, Apple plans to further detail the capabilities of the latest iPad Air models at its upcoming developer conference in June.
