Greektown is a cultural district in Chicago providing all who visit authentic Greek dining, shopping, and nightlife. According to Greektown Chicago, Greektown is credited for introducing gyros and saganaki to the rest of the U.S. and was recognized by the National Convention for its many contributions to Chicago in 1996. These included street renovations and the construction of traditional Greek pavilions and temples in the district’s major intersections.

Greek traditions, language, and pride are still in full swing in Greektown. The neighborhood is also home to the National Hellenic Museum, which depicts the history of Greek Culture. Operating for over 30 years and celebrating a culture over 3000 years old, the Taste of Greektown festival is a unique and enlightening way to spend one of the last weekends of August.
