Lincoln Park’s Costco Wholesale has been granted approval for expansions to its parking lot and warehouse space, in a win for retail development in Chicago. The expansion project was approved by the Chicago City Council at its Wednesday meeting, according to Block Club Chicago.
The project will reportedly add 60 parking spaces to the existing lot, along with traffic changes to decrease congestion. The Lincoln Park Costco is located within a larger retail corridor along Clybourn Avenue, and often sees heavy traffic congestion during peak hours.
According to Block Club, a Chase Bank building will be added to the site, along with new electric vehicle charging stations, additional gas pumps, and renovations to the nearby portion of the riverwalk. Additional improvements will be added to the adjacent section of Damen Avenue including updates to the bike lane, crosswalks, and turning lanes.
The project will also include beautification efforts, with additional greenspace, benches, and public art added to the riverwalk section, according to Block Club.
