Former Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks is saying farewell to the city that was his home for nearly a decade. After an unforgettable 2016 World Series season, he will forever be etched in Cubs history. According to MLB.com, Hendricks has begun a new chapter with his hometown team, the Los Angeles Angels. He has relocated to California and is selling his Lakeview home.

Hendricks was affectionately dubbed "The Professor" for his cerebral approach on the mound and dedication to completing his undergraduate degree at Dartmouth while playing in the MLB. From his perfect command of pitch selections to his famous changeup, Hendricks' career with the Cubs has been a testament to precision, perseverance, and consistency.

Hendricks signed with the Cubs' minor league team in 2012 and was quickly promoted to the majors in 2014. He started Game Three of the 2016 World Series, delivering an outstanding performance with six shutout innings to help the Cubs secure a win. In Game Seven, he came in as a relief pitcher, contributing three crucial scoreless innings in the Cubs’ extra-innings victory, which secured their first World Series title in 108 years.

His presence on the mound and in the community will be deeply missed. He was actively involved in the Cubs Scholars program, which supports Chicago students through scholarships and mentorship. He frequently attended welcome breakfasts, greeted students, and emphasized the importance of higher education.

Kyle and his wife, Emma, began their family in Chicago with the birth of their son Luca, in a beautifully decorated modern home in the Southport Corridor of Lakeview. Their home perfectly blends modern elegance and functionality with its meticulously clean lines, professional appliances, and thoughtfully designed spaces.

According to the listing, the home's standout features include the walk-in, temperature-controlled wine refrigerator, two rooftop decks, and the master suite’s spa-like bath. The bedroom suite features a stunning freestanding Victoria + Albert tub, heated floors, and an oversized steam shower with a rain showerhead, creating a luxurious and relaxing space.

The home, at 3629 N. Greenview Ave, has been on the market since November 2024. The new owner will have the unique opportunity to take pride in owning a piece of Chicago Cubs history, as this home served as the backdrop for significant moments in the life of one of the team's most beloved players.

As Kyle and his family embark on this exciting new chapter in Los Angeles, with a new baby on the way in November 2025, there’s much to look forward to in their journey ahead. With fresh starts, cherished memories, and an exciting future ahead, the journey continues for Kyle Hendricks.
