Okay, we all know at this point, that our beloved South Side Chicago baseball team, the White Sox, has reached sports infamy in the worst possible way.
By losing on Friday night, they have clinched the worst final regular season record in modern baseball history. Ouch. Decades and decades of really bad teams, but now our SouthSiders will go down as the worst of the worst.
That hurts for sure. But what follows is definitely not meant to rub the proverbial salt into the wound, in fact, quite the contrary.
Instead, we searched far and wide (okay, not that far, and definitely not that wide) to find ten things even more painful than the Chicago White Sox record.
See if this helps ease the pain:
Watching a kid eating yellow snow
Gas station cellophane-wrapped pastries
A long line of people waiting behind you and the grocery store automatic checkout machine freezing up telling you to, “Wait…help is on the way!”
Recording your favorite TV show, and then reading on the screen, “the fast forwarding mechanism is currently not available for this particular program”
Cleaning the gutters after you have let the leaves sit too long, only to find they’ve coagulated with the rain, mud and other foreign objects into what looks like a bad bacterial experiment gone awry…even worse? Doing this job sans gloves!
The sound from the emergency services, “This is only a test”
Being served Jello…and the only utensil you have is a fork
Listening to Christmas songs on the radio—in October!
Sitting in the window seat of an airplane and having to go to the washroom really bad…but the two people next to you are both sound asleep
“Turn and cough” instructions at the doctor's office. Nuff said.
I know the above can’t quite wipe away the pain of the last 5 months for our die-hard White Sox fans, but if they can “ease the suffering” just a bit—by putting things at least a little bit in perspective? Then we hoped we helped.
You're welcome.
