Winter storms brewing in the United States are heading towards the Midwest, bringing snow to Chicago and all of Illinois. Other states expected to be affected by the winter storm warning include Missouri, Indiana, and Kentucky. According to NBC Chicago, the initial round of snowfall will begin after midnight on Thursday and is expected to persist through Friday morning’s commute, posing slippery travel conditions.
The snow showers evolving from Texas and Oklahoma have already impacted some southern states with sleet and heavy snow. The National Weather Service has reported that a winter storm warning remains active through Friday in Kentucky and Indiana, indicating substantial snow is anticipated.
Accumulation levels vary across regions. Southeastern suburbs of Chicago and Northwest Indiana could see up to three inches of snow, while northern suburbs will likely receive only an inch of snow, says NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Kevin Jeanes.
