Chicago’s United Center has been selected to host the 2026 Big Ten Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament from March 11 - 15.
This will mark the event’s first return to Chicago since 2023 and the 12th time United Center has hosted the tournament since its inception in 1998. Choose Chicago, the Chicago Sports Commission, and United Center have partnered with the Big Ten Tournament to present the event.
“I am thrilled to welcome the Big Ten Conference back to Chicago for the 2026 Big Ten Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament,” said Choose Chicago Interim President and CEO Rich Gamble in a statement.
“Marquee sporting events like this are great opportunities to showcase our city, and we look forward to working with the United Center and all of our local partners to show Big Ten athletes, coaches, and fans an incredible time in Chicago.”
The Big Ten Tournament’s return to the United Center serves as a testament to Chicago’s reputation as a sports city.
The 5-day tournament is just one of several major sporting events hosted in Chicago in recent years, along with the NASCAR Chicago Street Race and the upcoming NHL Winter Classic at Wrigley Field.
