Chicago’s farmers market season is blooming with community energy, local flavor, and fresh produce as neighborhood markets prepare to open across the city. From long-standing traditions to creative new vendors, here's a roundup of the markets bringing life to our streets this spring and summer.
Wicker Park farmers market: a sci-fi season kickoff
The Wicker Park Farmers Market returns for its 25th anniversary on Sunday, May 4, with an out-of-this-world “May the Fourth Be With You” theme. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite sci-fi characters to celebrate the unofficial holiday. Located at 1425 N. Damen Ave, the market will run Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Oct. 26.
With 60+ local vendors, the market offers everything from fresh produce and wild-caught seafood to handmade crafts and baked goods. Vendors include Anticonquisa Cafe, Hook Point Fisheries, Jacobson Family Farms, and more. Regular programming, themed events, and family-friendly activities will continue throughout the season.
Andersonville farmers market: midweek magic with a focus on sustainability
The Andersonville Farmers Market (AFM) opens Wednesday, May 14, and runs Wednesdays from 3–7 p.m. through Oct. 22 on the 1500 block of Winona. With 50+ vendors, including newcomers like The Chinese Mom Kitchen, Tony’s Peanut Butter, and Wanda Farms, the market will feature weekly entertainment, cooking demos, and children’s activities.
AFM will continue its popular Link matching program, helping make farm-fresh food more accessible. Pop-up vendors like Maison Parisienne and Kyoto Black will rotate in throughout the season.
Logan Square farmers Market: mother's day Debut and Unity Park previews
Opening Mother’s Day, May 11, the Logan Square Farmers Market returns to Kedzie Boulevard from Logan Blvd to Fullerton Ave, remaining there while construction continues around the square. The market runs Sundays through Oct. 26 and draws thousands each week.
Ahead of the main market, mini Saturday markets will take place at Unity Park (2636 N. Kimball Ave) throughout April. Vendor announcements for both events are forthcoming.
The Logan Square market has held the title of Chicago Reader’s Best Farmers Market six years in a row and recently wrapped a successful indoor season at Breakfast for Dinner, serving over 6,500 visitors.
Lincoln Square farmers market: back with a new rhythm
The Lincoln Square Farmers Market kicks off Thursday, May 1 at its temporary location at 4513 N. Lincoln Ave. due to ongoing streetscape improvements. The market runs Tuesdays (7 a.m.–noon) through Nov. 18 and Thursdays (3–7 p.m.) through October.
This season brings back favorites like Los Rodriguez Farm, Global Gardens Chicago, and Au Levain Chicago, with even more to come. While construction limits access to the usual plaza space, public parking is available nearby at the Canvas At Leland Plaza building.
The Lincoln Square Master Plan improvements will continue throughout the year, modernizing the streetscape and creating a more welcoming environment for shoppers and businesses.
