Mayor Brandon Johnson, Choose Chicago and DCASE announced the return of a citywide program to support holiday events in ten neighborhoods, aiming to drive foot traffic to local businesses. Partnering with neighborhood chambers and community groups, the program, launched last year, features markets, parades, performances and more to celebrate and boost local economies.
The first event kicks off with the Hyde Park Holiday Market on November 16, featuring 25–30 minority-owned businesses, music, hot chocolate, and family activities. Events continue through early January across various neighborhoods. Here are some highlights:
- Austin: Tree Lighting & Parade | Dec. 6
- Avondale: Winter Bazaar & Tree Lighting at Solidarity Triangle | Nov. 29 and Saturdays in December
- Bronzeville: Holiday Decorations & Lighting | Nov. 30
- Englewood: Miracle on 63rd Street | Dec. 21
- Humboldt Park: Tree Lighting & Three Kings Day at Paseo Boricua | Nov. 30, Dec. 21, Jan. 6
- Hyde Park: Holiday Market | Nov. 16 & Dec. 14
- Little Village: Tree Lighting & Holiday Trolley Kick-Off | Dec. 1, Dec. 6, Dec. 7
- North Lawndale: Holiday Decorations & Events at Soulé Restaurant, Cocina Shared Kitchen, Del Kar Pharmacy | Throughout Dec.
- Pullman: Winter Lights & 9th Ward Christmas Crawl | Nov. 30
- South Shore: Lighting Ceremony on 75th St | Dec. TBD
“Our neighborhoods are the heart of Chicago,” said Rich Gamble, Choose Chicago’s Interim CEO. “By inviting visitors to explore these areas, we’re supporting local businesses and making our city a vibrant, welcoming place for all.”
