Get ready to ring in the Year of the Snake with a celebration like no other! Navy Pier’s 2025 Global Connections Series is launching in grand fashion with a vibrant Lunar New Year celebration on Saturday, February 1.

The iconic Aon Grand Ballroom will transform into a cultural wonderland featuring dazzling performances, live music, art displays, and interactive, family-friendly activities. Don’t miss this free event that promises to bring the rich traditions of Lunar New Year to life in Chicago, uniting communities in joy and celebration.

“We are thrilled to support this vibrant Lunar New Year celebration, a time to honor rich traditions that have been passed down through generations,” said Mark Noffke of the Sue Ling Gin Foundation Trust, an event sponsor. “Lunar New Year is not only a moment of cultural significance for many, but also an opportunity to bring people from all walks of life together in a shared experience of joy, unity, and reflection.”

The Year of the Snake symbolizes wisdom, transformation and resilience—qualities that will be showcased through the day’s dynamic lineup. Lunar New Year, also known as the “spring festival,” is celebrated across many cultures in Asia and the Middle East, making this event an inclusive tribute to global traditions.

This year’s Lunar New Year celebration boasts an impressive roster of community partners:

  • Chicago Loves Chinatown
  • Korean Performing Arts Institute of Chicago
  • Filipino American Historical Society of Chicago
  • Thai Cultural and Fine Arts Institute
  • Helixx Crew K-Pop Dancers

  • Chinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA)

From traditional lion dances to electrifying K-pop performances, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
