Chicago: Home of House – 40th Anniversary Exhibit
Opening May 1, the “Chicago: Home of House” exhibit celebrates the city’s pioneering role in the creation of House music. Hosted in collaboration with the Design Museum of Chicago and The Vintage House Show Collective, this multimedia exhibit explores the genre’s cultural legacy and global influence.
The celebration continues through summer with the Navy Pier Open Air concert series, launching May 10 with a headline performance from Grammy-winning DJ Black Coffee. The Wave Wall Wax DJ series will feature local talent every Saturday from May 25 to August 31.
Mexico Fest & Lakefront Loop 5K
From May 3–5, Mexico Fest brings the sounds, flavors, and traditions of Mexican states like Chihuahua, Nayarit, and Querétaro to Navy Pier. The festival features live cultural performances, authentic Mexican cuisine, and an artisan market with handmade goods.
Also on May 5, participants can lace up for the Lakefront Loop 5K, a scenic fun run that loops entirely along Navy Pier’s picturesque path. Registration supports ongoing cultural programming at the Pier.
Navy Pier Fireworks & New Membership Program
Starting Memorial Day weekend, Navy Pier’s signature summer fireworks return every Wednesday and Saturday night through Labor Day. Each show is set to dynamic musical themes, including a spotlight on Chicago House music.
This season also marks the launch of the Navy Pier Passport, a new membership program offering perks such as discounted parking, free fast-pass tickets to the Centennial Wheel, and exclusive event access. Proceeds from memberships help fund the Pier’s free year-round public programming.
